Physician to Pay $174,000 to Resolve Allegations of Illegal Opioid Prescriptions, False Medicare Billings

A physician who provided pain management services will pay $174,000 to resolve allegations he prescribed opioid pain medications in violation of the Controlled Substances Act and billed Medicare for patient visits that did not occur in violation of the False Claims Act, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin Matthew D. Krueger announced April 6.
