Medicare Fee-for-Service Improper Payment Rate Dips to 6.55%, CMS Reports

The estimated improper payment rate for Medicare fee-for-service was 6.55%, or $28.83 billion, in fiscal year (FY) 2025, down from 7.66%, or $31.70 billion the previous year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) reported in a January 15 fact sheet.
