What DOJ’s New National Fraud Enforcement Division Means for the Health Care Industry

On January 8, 2026, the White House announced the creation of a new Department of Justice (DOJ) Division for National Fraud Enforcement—a consequential initiative designed to centralize and intensify federal fraud enforcement across both criminal and civil domains. According to the White House Fact Sheet, this division will combat fraud affecting federal programs, federally funded benefits, businesses, nonprofits, and private citizens nationwide, with a newly appointed Assistant Attorney General positioned to lead investigations, establish national enforcement priorities, and provide strategic policy guidance to senior DOJ leadership.
