OIG Finds Opioid Use in Part D Continues to Dwindle, But Could Rise in 2020 with COVID-19

Although in 2019, opioid use in Medicare Part D decreased and the use of medication-assisted treatment (MAT drugs) increased, “it is critical to remain vigilant,” especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in an August 17 report.
