Two Home Health Companies Agree to Settle Stark Violations

Home health companies Medical Services of America, Inc. and Traditional Home Care, Inc., d/b/a Community Home Health Services, agreed to pay $702,541.20 to resolve allegations that they violated the Stark Law by making bonus payments to an employee based on patient referrals from the employee’s physician spouse, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Jason A. Reding Quiñones announced January 26.
The settled allegations arose from a whistleblower lawsuit filed by Javier Figueroa. Figueroa will receive approximately $126,457 from the settlement, a press release said.
