CMS Asks for Feedback on Advancing Health Equity, Efficiency in Programs

  • September 09, 2022

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is asking for comments on how to advance health equity, reduce burden, and create efficiencies in its programs.

The broad-based Request for Information (RFI), which was issued September 6, is part of CMS’ efforts to better understand individual and community-level burdens, health-related social needs, and opportunities for reducing disparities and promoting efficiency and innovation.

CMS is asking for input by November 4 on strategies for addressing drivers of health inequities such as social determinants of health; challenges underserved communities face in accessing comprehensive, quality care; and the impact of agency policies, documentation and reporting requirements, operations, and communications on provider experiences. CMS also is looking for feedback on the impact of waivers and flexibilities that have been in place during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

“Advancing health equity is core work of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. That’s why I am inviting stakeholders to help achieve our goal of an equitable and efficient health system, by working with us as we transform the healthcare experience for the individuals we serve,” said CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure. “

The web-based comment form is available at: https://www.cms.gov/request-information-make-your-voice-heard.
