An Alabama hospital was not liable under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) for discharging a patient with unresolved symptoms—including dizziness, vomiting, and a severe headache—that may or may not have indicated an emergency medical condition, a federal district court held September 26.
