CMS Guidance Reinforces Guardrails for Organ Donation Decisions, Oversight

Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) and donor hospitals will be cited for noncompliance with federal requirements if surveyors find families felt coerced or pressured into organ donation even if the deficiency is corrected at the time of the survey, according to new guidance issued March 11.
