Florida Provider to Pay $800k, Submit to Monitoring After HIPAA Lapses Lead to Unauthorized Access

BayCare Health System has agreed to pay $800,000 and implement a corrective action plan to be monitored for two years by the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) to resolve several potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rule, the agency announced May 28.
