Illinois SUD Treatment Provider Pays $103,000 Settlement over Phishing Attack Breach

An Illinois substance use treatment provider paid $103,000 and agreed to implement a corrective action plan with two years of monitoring following a successful phishing attack that compromised the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 1,980 patients, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights (OCR) announced February 19.
