No HIPAA Penalties for Good Faith Use of Web-Based Scheduling Apps for COVID-19 Vaccines, HHS Says

Health care providers or their business associates will not face penalties for non-compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in connection with the “good faith use” of online or web-based scheduling applications for COVID-19 vaccination appointments that may not meet all of the regulatory requirements, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a notice published February 24 in the Federal Register (86 Fed. Reg. 11139).
