U.S. Court in Maine Says CMS Rule Ending EMTALA Obligations with Inpatient Admission Conflicts with Statute

A bright-line rule that automatically ends hospitals’ obligations under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) after the "good faith" admission of patient for inpatient care conflicts with the plain text of the statute’s stabilization and transfer requirements, a federal court in Maine held July 14.
