Purdue Pharma to Plead Guilty, Pay $8.3 Billion to Resolve Federal Probes over Opioid Marketing

Purdue Pharma L.P., which manufactures OxyContin, agreed to pay $8.3 million and plead guilty to three felony counts to resolve multi-year federal criminal and civil investigations into the company’s marketing practices for the addictive painkiller, the Department of Justice announced October 21.
