Food is no longer viewed solely as a cafeteria, nutrition services, or patient satisfaction issue. Food and nutrition policy is moving into the mainstream of health law as part of a broader federal health strategy. What makes this moment especially notable is the convergence of attention across U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) leadership, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), federal food regulators, Congress, states, and civil society, with much of the recent momentum amplified by the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) agenda.
