California Health Care Network Pays $600k OCR Settlement over Phishing Attack Breach

PIH Health, Inc. reached a $600,000 settlement with the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) over potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) related to a phishing attack breach that exposed unsecured electronic protected health information (ePHI) of nearly 200,000 patients, according to an April 25 agency press release.
