Ambient artificial-intelligence scribe solutions (AI Scribes)—such as Nuance DAX Copilot, Suki, Abridge, and DeepScribe—convert the spoken patient-provider encounter into structured clinical documentation through a blend of speech recognition, natural language processing, large language models, and machine-learning tools. Although early data suggest meaningful reductions in clinician burnout and improved note quality, these tools also present unique privacy, security, and reimbursement risks, as well as professional liability exposures. Health care systems, including academic medical centers, must approach AI Scribe adoption with a rigor commensurate with their legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations.
