Clinical laboratories play a crucial role in the health care industry, providing essential support in patient care. These laboratories are diverse in their settings and needs they cover, ranging from being hospital-based, stand-alone entities, privately owned, or publicly traded. The clinical laboratory industry has a history of enforcement actions in a range of areas, which continues through the present. The COVID-19 pandemic added a new layer of complexity to regulatory issues in the clinical laboratory industry and increased the scrutiny of the industry.
