Gift Terms and Conditions

Our Commitment to Donors

At the American Health Law Association, we deeply value our donors' intentions and strive to manage your contributions with the utmost respect and transparency.

Fund Management and Donor Intent

  • Control Over Funds: All donations received by AHLA are managed according to our governing documents, allowing us to use the funds effectively and responsibly.
  • Respecting Donor Intent: We prioritize fulfilling your wishes as a donor and will make every effort to align the use of funds with the intent expressed at the time of your donation.

Gift Acceptance Policies

  • Approval Process: Gifts, grants, or contracts that may entail financial or contractual obligations are subject to approval in accordance with AHLA's established policies.
  • Coordination of Activities: Non-gift transactions, such as grants and contracts for sponsored research projects, are processed in recognition of their distinct nature, ensuring they meet organizational standards.

Modifying or Releasing Restrictions

  • Adaptability Clause: Should the original purpose of any charitable funds become impractical, unlawful, or impossible to fulfill, our Board of Directors, a designated Committee, or an authorized officer may modify or release restrictions on these funds.
  • Consulting Donors: In instances where modification is necessary, we will consult with the donor, where feasible, to find a solution that aligns with the donor's original intention.
  • Exercising Powers: Modifications to the use of funds are made only in the best interest of AHLA and in the manner that respects the spirit of the original gift.
