Leaders as Community Ambassadors

LEADERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES AS COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS

Through your participation as a community ambassador, you help to build stronger connections with members by understanding their needs, concerns, and hearing their feedback. Your active involvement also ensures that important information, updates, and discussions are effectively communicated, keeping your AHLA colleagues informed. Your ability to facilitate and encourage collaboration and idea-sharing, drive innovation and collective problem-solving, are crucial for members’ professional development and satisfaction.

Here are ways you can boost participation in AHLA’s Communities, along with a task list (see link on sidebar) to help you stay on track. Help us foster a vibrant online community where members feel like they have a professional home and a place to connect with their health law colleagues.

Guidelines to Increase Engagement

1. Be Welcoming and Approachable

  • Introduce Yourself: Start by posting a friendly introduction about yourself, your role, and your interests.
  • Greet New Members: Regularly welcome new members and encourage them to introduce themselves.

2. Initiate Conversations

  • Post Regularly: Share interesting content, updates, or questions regularly to keep the conversation going.
  • Ask Open-Ended Questions: Encourage discussion by asking questions that require more than a yes/no answer.

3. Be Responsive

  • Reply Promptly: Respond to posts and comments quickly to keep the conversation flowing.
  • Acknowledge Contributions: Thank members for their contributions and highlight interesting points they make.

4. Create Value

  • Share Resources: Post relevant articles, videos, or other resources that members will find useful.
  • Announce Events: Invite members to register for and attend upcoming virtual networking events.

5. Encourage Peer-to-Peer Interaction

  • Highlight Member Contributions: Showcase interesting posts or comments by members to encourage others to engage.
  • Facilitate Networking: Encourage members to connect with each other based on shared interests or goals.

6. Foster a Positive Environment

  • Moderate Respectfully: Ensure the forum remains a safe and respectful space for everyone.
  • Celebrate Milestones: Recognize community milestones like member anniversaries, high participation rates, etc.

Tips for Success

  • Consistency is key to maintaining engagement. Ensure tasks are carried out regularly.
  • Welcome different perspectives and ideas to make discussions richer.
  • Track engagement and be aware of what types of posts are most effective and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Make members feel valued and heard to build a strong, engaged community.
