What to Share

What emerging health law issue would you like to know more about? Curious if your peers face similar challenges? Use the “Create” button to ask a question about everyday challenges and emerging industry issues or share a lesson you have learned with fellow members. You can also engage by providing feedback or answering questions on existing posts.

Reply to Discussion Threads

Click on a discussion thread in your Activity Feed or in a community and use the reply button to comment or ask a question. You can also respond to threads through your email account via the community email digest.

Create a Discussion

Click the “Create” button in the top right of your screen and select the type of post you would like to create. Select the Community you would like your post to appear in. Make sure your post has a meaningful subject that users will understand and respond to and be sure to #hashtag your post with topic areas.

View and Add Communities

To view your current communities, go to “Communities” in the top navigation and select “My Communities,” which were assigned to you based on your membership and previous preferences. To join more, choose “All Communities,” and then use the “join” button to the right of each community name. You will be prompted to select your email digest preferences, and then you can begin interacting.

What’s a community? It’s an online group of AHLA members organized by practice setting or special topic. Members of the community share information and dialogue around shared interests, challenges, and more. You may already be assigned to some communities based on your previous interests. You can add yourself to new communities and remove yourself from others.

What's New?

This new online community features a personalized dashboard and intuitive user interface that allows users to easily reply and participate in conversations via email digests or engage directly on the platform.

Share or Find a Resource

To view resources in your community library, click on the library tab. There are two ways to upload a resource to a community:

  • Use the participate button and select “Library Entry,” or
  • go to the community where you would like the resource to appear, select the “Library” in the community menu, and then use “Create a Library Entry” button.

Enter a meaningful title for your resource, select the community where you would like to enter the resource, choose the document type, and select Next.

You can also upload resources when you write a discussion post. You will see an Attach button at the bottom of the page when you are making a post. Click the button and insert your document.

Community Email Digest Subscriptions

When you join a community, you are automatically subscribed to receive emails containing messages that other users post in that community. To review or edit your email subscriptions, click on Settings next to the community name and choose Email Notification preferences. You can select from the following options:

Real Time: You will receive an email each time a new message is posted.

Daily Digest: You will receive one email each day containing all the previous day’s messages.

No Email: This means you will not receive any emails in your inbox.

You can also adjust the preferences for each community by going to Profile, clicking on My Account, and selecting Community Notifications.

Privacy Controls

To control the information that other members see on your profile, log in to the Health Law Network, click on your profile, and click on My Account tab to select Privacy Settings. From there, you can choose what information others can see or not see. Be sure to click the Save button when finished.

  • Use the participate button and select “Library Entry,” or
  • go to the community where you would like the resource to appear, select the “Library” in the community menu, and then use “Create a Library Entry” button.
