CMS Proposes to Expand Its Authority to Deny or Revoke Provider/Supplier Enrollment

In the 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is proposing to revise the regulations governing establishing and maintaining Medicare billing privileges to expand the agency’s authority to deny or revoke a provider’s or supplier’s Medicare enrollment and to modify the factors that CMS will consider in determining whether to revoke a provider’s or supplier’s enrollment based on abuse of billing privileges.[1]
